The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a voice for the poor. It works not only to alleviate poverty but also to discover poverty's root causes. The Society stands up for the poor, fights for justice for the poor, and combats the alienation of the poor from society. The Society provides emergency material assistance, and increasingly supports and encourages recipients to become personally empowered and free from the need for ongoing help.
