Fresh Start of Indianapolis, Inc. was founded in 1997 by Judith House, who (with her 3 children) survived an abusive relationship and successfully rebuilt her life from scratch in 1990. Fresh Start has successfully addressed obstacles which often prevent the victim from leaving the abusive relationship. Fresh Start of Indianapolis, Inc. advocates a personalized step approach towards self-sufficiency and non-violence - free from the public welfare system. Fresh Start of Indianapolis, Inc. is growing rapidly and has gained credibility and strength in the Indianapolis community. The caring approach has earned the respect of the clients, service providers and the Indianapolis community. In March 1999, Judith House was the recipient of 3 awards - The Indiana Jefferson Award, WTHR-Channel 6 Leadership Award, and Sertoma's Service to Mankind Award. This award-winning organization has received numerous requests to replicate the program services in other states and countries.
