The Atlanta Legal Aid Society was founded in 1924 by leaders of the Atlanta Bar Association. Its mission is to provide free legal assistance to Atlanta's poorest people. This includes help with housing, spouse and child abuse, consumer issues, and public benefits. Legal Aid works with the elderly, the homeless, the physically and mentally disabled, sick children, and people with cancer and AIDS.
“Helping low-income people meet basic needs, removing barriers to justice through civil legal assistance.”
